About the Client
Foreign languages school providing online teaching services. KateIt! is popular for its bespoke teaching method called Stay-In-Touch, which ensures the constant access to foreign languages. Such form of learning gives the opportunity to every day practice, even for the busiest persons. The effectiveness comes from the flexible schedules, thanks to which everyone can find sufficient time to learn during the day. The teaching program is suited individually to clients’ needs and their learning skills.
The purpose of the project
The project’s goal was to minimize the need for manual operation for each student thanks to obtaining consistency in multi-channel communication. The new high-tech system is to improve the quality of services provided through the optimization of teaching processes, which also improves the effectiveness of teacher’s work.
The previously used different types of communication methods with the clients (such as text messages or phone calls), were restricting the clients time. So we collected everything in one place and the process was optimized and improved.
The client received a dedicated web portal for the administrators and mobile applications available for Android system and iOS – for the students and lecturers. We have also created a joint data base which is the internal storage for all information necessary for the systems’ functionality. We introduced the API interface which enables the communication between other components of the system and ensures the coherence of presented information both in portal as well as in mobile apps.
KateIt! system was divided into 3 modules: users management, the calendar and the course. The advantage of the project is the modernization of the system which undoubtedly attracts new students.
The system introduced many positive modifications and facilities in the form of simplified teaching management in the foreign language school. The client doesn’t need to send any longer text messages with notifications about vocabulary to each student every day because they were automated. The exercises used to be sent via electronic post as well but currently the vocabulary and tests are available through the mobile app. The calendar was integrated with the material which is currently lectured during the courses. Additionally, the system was integrated with payment processes.
The main benefit from applied functionalities is the time saved by the client, which was previously spent on communicating the necessary information to each student individually. The client has gained the opportunity to expand their business with a duplicated amount of student number (from 30 to 63) since the start of the system’s operation.
- Course was manned entirely manually (booking the dates, preparation of educational materials and posting them to each student, monitoring the teaching process) via sms, electronic post, or phone calls. The time restriction was therefore an issue for the client,
- Improvement in business activity scale through the automatization of all communication tools used so far,
- Manual verification of all payments.
We currently consider further improvement in users experience in mobile apps. Furthermore, we can implement the chat in the application, which will make easier the contact with the lecturers, additional functionalities such as: group sessions, and tests module expansion through adding to them the ratings and achievements.
